Filarmoniche in Piazza: Summer Music in the Heart of Cortona

From 23 to 27 June 2026, Cortona hosts the 17th edition of “Filarmoniche in Piazza”, a musical event included in the Settimana Musicale Cortonese.

For five consecutive evenings, Piazza Luca Signorelli will become an open-air stage for band and philharmonic concerts, featuring musical groups from Tuscany and Umbria. A simple and charming opportunity to experience Cortona’s historic centre on summer evenings, surrounded by music, tradition and the atmosphere of the town.

Programme

On Tuesday 23 June, at 9:15 p.m., the Società Filarmonica Cortonese will open the festival with a concert also dedicated to welcoming the students of the University of Georgia, Cortona campus.

On Wednesday 24 June, the Filarmonica Pietro Mascagni from Foiano della Chiana will perform.

On Thursday 25 June, the Banda di Passignano sul Trasimeno, from nearby Umbria, will take the stage.

On Friday 26 June, the programme will continue with a concert by the Filarmonica Giuseppe Verdi from Farneta di Cortona.

On Saturday 27 June, the event will close with another performance by the Società Filarmonica Cortonese, together with the “Prime Note” band of the Istituto Comprensivo Cortona 1 and the Filarmonica Cortonese.

Free music in the heart of Cortona

All events will take place at 9:15 p.m. in Piazza Luca Signorelli, in Cortona’s historic centre.

Admission is free.
