Christmas in Cortona: A Month of Magic (Dec 6 – Jan 6)

Cortona transforms for the holiday season with a vibrant program of events and attractions lighting up the historic center and surrounding villages until Epiphany. Here are the highlights of this year's edition:

Lights and Atmosphere

Every evening, the city heart will glow with new light projections inspired by masterpieces dedicated to Saint Francis. These stunning visuals can be admired on the facades of Piazza della Repubblica and the Church of San Domenico.

Fun and Family Attractions

    - Sky Tower: The big news this year is the 40-meter panoramic carousel in Piazza Garibaldi, offering breathtaking views over the city.

    - Santa Claus Virtual Express: Located at Palazzo Ferretti (Via Nazionale, 45), this "magic train" takes passengers on a virtual journey to Santa’s House.

    - Markets and Shopping: Every weekend, the main squares will host special Christmas markets, while local shops will offer holiday promotions and gift ideas.

Exhibits and Traditions   

  - Vintage Toys and Modeling: The Sant’Agostino Convention Center will host an extensive exhibition featuring vintage toys, model railways, LEGO displays, Barbie collections, and handcrafted models.

   - The Nativity Trail: A suggestive route through the city's historic churches (from San Filippo to Santa Margherita). Each site will be marked by special outdoor lighting to guide visitors to the most beautiful historic and artistic Nativity scenes.
